Roman route from Wesel to Hünxe

This tour takes us on almost 14 km through the woods and meadows along the Lippe. Past historic farms, you reach the municipality of Krudenburg. There was once a knight's seat here. Because of its location on the Lippe, the history of Krudenburg is also closely connected with navigation on the Lippe. In the 19th century, several Lippe locks were built between Wesel and Hamm to make shipping more profitable. Along the river there were artificially constructed riverside paths, the so-called Treidel or Leinpfade. Horses pulled the ships along these paths. In Krudenburg there was a wintering harbour for the Lippe ships. A tour of the towboat village with its listed centre is well worthwhile. Afterwards, the tour continues to the beautiful village of Hönxe and from there back to Wesel by bus.
